Staffing Bryher
court is owned and managed by local people. Our Matron Suzanne Springthorpe
RGN BSc BA., has worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 20 years. She is
a highly qualified and experienced nurse but also a kind and considerate
person who will be pleased to answer any questions you might have. She is
ably assisted by our deputy Matron and a full compliment of Sisters and
registered nurses. They in turn supervise our senior carers and nursing
auxiliaries. We consider our care team to be one of the very best in the
area. Being a
registered nursing home we are legally bound to have a qualified nurse (RGN)
on duty 24 hours per day. In addition, there is a full compliment of
trained nursing staff and auxiliary staff.
We always have at least two Registered Nurses on duty at any time in
addition to a full compliment of Care Assistants. The nurses work in teams of three or four on each floor
each morning to assist residents in rising, bathing and dressing if
desired. A senior care assistant or a Sister is present on each floor
at all times. The qualified staff will attend to dressings and medical
procedures. For those residents who cannot stand or walk, a mechanical
hoist may be used, or other lifting aids as deemed necessary by the qualified
nursing staff. It is necessary for the night staff to answer bells during
the night, and they will make regular “rounds” to check all rooms, as
required by law, for safety reasons etc, but every effort will be made not to
disturb people unnecessarily. Trained staff undertake regular
medicine rounds at appropriate times of the day. However, if a resident
is in need of medication at any time, they should alert the nursing staff. |
